When should I come in to get my oil changed?
You can trust your vehicle to alert you when it’s time for an oil change. Your vehicle’s Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor (IOLM) uses actual engine data and operating conditions plus your driving habits to calculate precisely when you need an oil change. In equipped vehicles, a dash message alerts you when it’s time to change the oil and filter.
When can I expect an oil change alert?
The frequency of reminders to schedule an oil change depends on how you drive and the length of time since your last oil change. Below are general guidelines.
- Normal commuting with some highway driving: 7,500 to 10,000 miles.
- Moderate trailer towing, a lot of mountainous or off-road driving, or extended idling: 5,000 to 7,000 miles.
- Mostly short trip driving in extreme heat or cold, or trailer towing with maximum loads: 3,000 to 5,000 miles.
What is my oil change alert telling me?
Change Engine Oil Soon There is 5% or less oil life left. Contact Greenway Ford to schedule an oil change.
Oil Change Due There is 0% oil life remaining. The oil and filter need to be changed immediately to protect the engine.
Reset the IOLM after every oil change using the steering wheel controls to guide you through the Settings menu.
How do I know if my vehicle has the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor?
Most Ford vehicles are equipped with the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor. Check your owner’s manual for details.
When do I schedule an oil change?
Your vehicle will alert you when your oil life has dropped to 5% or less. That’s the right time to schedule an oil change.
